DesignIs this supposed to be a light fitting? It is not easy to see an actual lamp in the DCWéditions Biny table lamp LED. Some people see in this table lamp a radiant heater on two legs, others see a ventilation shaft… The French designer Jacques Biny (1913-1976) was known for his functional, optically restrained designs – the mysterious looking Biny table lamp LED is no exception. When designing this luminaire, Jacques Biny had a rather rational than emotional approach, as well. The stand consists of two legs far apart from each other for better stability. The characteristic slats on the front side of the lamp head not only serve the purpose of decoration, but also the technical purpose of controlling the direction of light. Certainly, the re-edited Biny table lamp LED by DCWéditions is a further proof of the plain, purpose-oriented approach of the French designer – even though a rather unusual. The original that served as a template was the Model 231, designed by Biny in his own workshop "Luminalite" in 1957.
